Trunkline, c’est l’union de Madben et Yann Lean autour d’une techno brute basée sur le groove, les textures et les gimmicks rythmiques. Influencés par le son rave des années 90, les deux producteurs français délivrent une techno basée sur la vivacité d’écriture et la spontanéité. Avec Trunkline, ils retrouvent le grain particulier de la techno réalisée avec des machines analogiques. Sur scène, le duo performe un live 100% hardware en interaction avec le public grâce aux possibilités d’improvisation proposé par un tel set up, à l’instar de jazzmen. Ils utilisent des synthétiseurs modulaires Moog et Kilpatrick Audio, des boites à rythmes Elektron et Roland mais aussi un filtre master Bastl Instruments réalisé sur mesure. La partie séquençage à la volée est assuré par des Beatstep Pro d’Arturia. Aucun ordinateur, tout est branché dans une console analogique Midas 24 voies qui leur permets d’utiliser bien d’autres machines. Sur le dancefloor, le duo a aussi l’habitude de déployer une énergie redoutablement efficace en dj set à quatre mains. Régulièrement joués par des artistes aussi prestigieux.ses que Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Paula Temple ou Ben Klock, leurs productions sont sorties sur de beaux labels internationaux comme KR/LF, Planet Rhythm, Gynoid ou Noir Music et ils ont l’honneur de remixer Carl Cox et Nicole Moudaber sur le label Mood Records. En 2022 sort « Mercy », le premier album de Trunkline qu’ils signent sur le label belge Arkham Audio et qui s’accompagne d’un tout nouveau live machines sur scène. Un nouveau chapitre prolongeant leur passion pour l’expérimentation analogique et le travail de textures : un beau mélange d’efficacité brute et de paysages émotionnels et atmosphériques.

Trunkline is the union of Madben and Yann Lean around a raw techno based on groove, textures and rhythmic gimmicks. Influenced by the rave sound of the 90s, the two French producers deliver a techno based on the liveliness of writing and spontaneity. With Trunkline, they rediscover the distinctive grain of techno only achieved with analogue machines. On stage, Trunkline plays a 100% hardware live set up which allows for jazzlike improvisations and interactions with the audience. They use Moog and Kilpatrick Audio modular synthesizers, Elektron and Roland drum machines and a custom-made Bastl Instruments master filter. The on-the-fly sequencing part is done by Arturia’s Beatstep Pro. No computer! Everything is plugged into a 24 channel Midas analogue console which allows them to use many other machines. On the dancefloor, the duo is also used to deploying a formidable energy in four-handed dj sets. Regularly played by prestigious artists such as  Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Paula Temple or BenKlock, their productions have been released on beautiful international labels such as KR/LF, Planet Rhythm, Gynoid or Noir Music and they have the honor of remixing Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber on the Mood Records label. In 2022 « Mercy » is released, Trunkline’s first album that they sign on the Belgian label Arkham Audio and that comes with a brand new live machine. A new chapter in their passion for analog experimentation and textural work: a beautiful mix of raw efficiency and emotional, atmospheric landscapes.
