ASTROPOLIS #18

Every summer, ASTROPOLIS offers the best of electronic music for 3 days. This year will be the 18th edition, which will be held from August 16 to 19 in Brest... A major one, masterful, along with top names spread over 7 locations, which one hosting a night of rave surrounded by an old manor, makes ASTROPOLIS a special event for all electronic music lovers.

The story of the oldest electronic music festival in France begins in July 95 when the Sonics organized their first rave in a field in the north of Finistère. On three stages, best House and Techno acts amazed 1200 electronic music lovers for a legendary night. Which was a rave at first became an institutional festival taking place each summer at Keriolet Castle in Concarneau from 1997 to 2000. Due to a big success, the event had to move to a larger place and from 2001 takes over in Brest at the Keroual Manor in a heart of a wood. This place, put in lights and set to music, takes on an “Alice in wonderland” for an all night celebrating electronic music. Then, Astropolis has expanded its electric vibes downtown, in clubs and public spaces, becoming an urban festival dedicated to all publics while maintaining its rave roots.

ASTROPOLIS displays innovative programs, mixing promising talent and legendary artists. Year after year, over its editions, the festival participated to many artistic revelations...

Each year the festival brings between 20,000 and 35,000 festival-goers (2011 attendance: 33,000 people). Astropolis continues to grow, particularly by diversifying its electronic music and culture diffusion through a showcase for young artists, a party “Astroboum” for children, workshops and conferences (off festival season)... In 2012, Astropolis launched its first winter edition in January, and is creating his own label: Astropolis Records.

La Carène
La Carène, turned into a Bunker Palace during Astropolis, is a prestigious concert hall based on the commercial harbor which also opens its roof for the Astrococktails.

Thursday and Friday evenings, let’s enjoy a cocktail, a downtempo musical selection, and an amazing view on the harbor, on the Carène’s rooftop!

Bunker Palace
Friday 17^th – from 8:30pm to 4am
On the Friday night, from 9:30pm to 4am, let’s discover four shows with intense tones and edifying visual effect.

La Suite
La Suite is a club, also based on the commercial harbor. Astropolis proposes 2 electric nights there: “Tremplin Astropolis” on the Thursday night, and “Astroclub” on the Friday night.

Thursday – from 11pm to 6am
This showcase present 8 of the 19 winners of “Tremplin Grand Ouest”.

Astroclub
Friday – from 11pm to 7am
Astroclub will be a memorable night, between references of techno and house, and an emergent star.

Closing Night at Keroual Manor
Saturday - from 9:30pm to 9am
This is THE night, the cherry on top! Four stages and an eclectic line-up in an old manor where lights and decorations turned it into an unforgettable “Alice in Wonderland” are waiting for you! From 9:30pm to 9am, you won’t stop moving, dancing, and enjoying this amazing place!

Jeudis du Port
Thursday – from 8pm to midnight
That’s a ritual: the special Astropolis “Jeudis du Port” launch the festival. Dedicated to all publics, in a familial atmosphere, young talents and confirmed bands set the harbor to music.

Le Vauban
The Brest’s famous brewery “Le Vauban” is the HQ of Astropolis. Radio shows take place here as musical happenings.

Astroboum
Saturday 18^th – from 4pm to 6pm
For children under 12.
Because kids have also the right to their own dance floor, DJ PONE will specially mix to make them move! Candyfloss, disco ball and turntable initiation are planed… Don’t be jealous!

/RAW/
Saturday 18^th – from 2pm to 8pm
Three collectives, MIDI-DEUX, EUMOLPE and DIGITALSHAPERZ, invest the terrace of the Vauban. A relaxing and dancing afternoon, with house, jackin and acid tunes.

Jardin du Château – Castle Garden

Cookids on the Floor
Thursday 16^th – from 4:30pm to 7pm
Under a marquee, three culinary workshops dedicated to kids offer a landscape to nibble and to draw, a colored space to make a cake and a “blind taste”. And the musical atmosphere will be led by DJ LE YO!

Beau Rivage
Saturday 18^th – from noon to 8pm
In the Castle garden, a nice view and a green place to enjoy a picnic on the music of electronic DJs. A relaxing afternoon…

Golfopolis – Siam Street
Saturday 18^th - noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
Let’s experiment urban golf! “Street Golf à l’Ouest” proposes you a nine-hole course in the city. Between two sets, test your swing!
3 persons/team, 15€. Registration required!

Mix’N’Boules – Place Guérin
Saturday 18^th – from 2pm to 8pm
